Tax cuts, Deficits, and a Spoiled Generation

Here’s an editorial that was recently published in the Victoria Times Colonist.

Political parties today truly favor the values of a selfish baby
boomer generation. This generation voted in political parties who
created huge deficits in all levels of government and then question
the tax structure in the Canadian economy. This debt will only be
passed onto your children, a generation that had no choice in their
parent’s fiscal irresponsibility.

Tax credits should be progressive and help benefit future generations.
Why not increase taxes on business and vehicles that aren’t
environmentally friendly, and give credits to those who push
innovative products and services. Instead of reducing taxes for those
with the most disposable income perhaps we should be reducing taxes
for students and those trying to gain some financial grounding.

If there is going to be some tax reform it should be for future
generations instead of a generation who never went to war, had great
music, frivolous sex, and took consumer culture to a whole new level.
Isn’t it time to take some accountability for your actions and think
about someone else?
