Montreal and Music

Two years ago I was privileged to see Danny Tenaglia play a spectacular marathon set at Stereo in Montreal. The show was gangbusters; the club vibe was amazing, and the analog sound system lived up to all expectations. That night I realized the residents of Montreal had something special going in their city.

Over the last few years MontrĂ©al has further solidified it’s stance in the music industry by producing some of the most spectacular albums in modern rock today. Two notable standout albums were Funeral (Arcade fire) and Apologies to the Queen Mary (Wolf Parade). Last year another somewhat unknown artist named Tiga stepped it up again with the release of his second LP (Sexor) and some amazing remixed tracks to complement it. His seamless blend of synth driven electro-house paints a spectacular portrait of modern electronic music through his use of dark cuts and relaxed vocals. It’s just a shame that his extended singles are soo hard to acquire in Canada. Hopfully, I will include a few tracks on an upcomming mix.
